If you’re wondering how to pin a website to the taskbar like windows7themes.net, you should follow this tutorial.
1. Step Right-click on your desktop and click on New – Shortcut:
2. Step Follow the wizard, when asked to enter a location, insert this:
For IE9: “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” http://windows7themes.net
For Firefox: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” http://windows7themes.net
For Chrome: “C:\Users\yourusernamehere\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe” http://windows7themes.net
For Opera: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\opera.exe” http://windows7themes.net
You have to add your username to the path for Chrome and of course you need to make sure you have actually installed your programs in (x86). If you are on Windows 7 32-bit, you need to remove the (x86) from the path.
Tip: You can hold Shift and right-click on the browser icon (close all browsers first) and then on Properties to see the path to the browser .exe file
Download Website Favicon For Shortcut
3. Step Once that is done, download an icon for the website. Simply enter your url like this:
http://yourfavoritewebsite.com/favicon.ico – e.g. https://www.howtoguides.org/favicon.ico
Then download the image and save it somewhere. In some cases, the website may store it somewhere else, you then have to look into the source code of the website and hit CTRL + F to search for “.ico”
4. Step Right-click on the shortcut we created in step 2 and click on Properties, then on the General tab click on Change Icon. Next, click on Browse and locate the icon we downloaded in step 3
In some cases, you can’t use the favicon.ico and it will say “favicon.ico contains no icons”. Then you should simply create an icon yourself or use another for this website.
The source code of a website can be seen in Chrome if you right-click inside the browser and click on View page source
