Have you ever wondered if there are any secret Windows 7 features? Most games have a godmode, something that will enable all cheats and features. Windows 7 too. This is going to be a brief tutorial that will allow you to enable the secret godmode in Windows 7.
Windows 8 Users
Windows 8 users can just as easily use the Godmode feature by creating a folder with the name GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
Update: Download Other “Godmodes”
You can now download all Windows 7 godmodes (see list below) from our site. All we ask for is some link love, so please post a link back to our site! Much appreciated:
The “Monster” Control Panel
The godmode will enable the “Monster control panel” that includes all functions and is quite large. See below for specific codes to create specific links.
1. Step Create a new folder (right-click and click on “New Folder”). Right-click on the folder and click on rename, copy and paste this:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
2. Step This folder will now be a shortcut to the Windows 7 godmode.The godmode allows you to quickly access many Windows 7 functions via a GUI.
Specific Godmode Codes
There are other codes for specific features and functions. The “monster control panel” above will give you the complete list of all features at once, but that list is quite lengthy so you might want to create multiple, smaller and specific links:
Important: To use the codes below you have to insert the word “Godmode.” before the code and then insert the complete string as the folder name.

This works in Vista too.
You can also type what you want before the “.”:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
or then
Widget.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
:)
Thanks for letting us know Johan. Definitely handy!
Hate to be a stick-in-the-mud, but as 4×4 said, “Godmode” is simply the Master Control Panel – it was available in Vista, too.
Thanks Oliver…
I really should say thanks alot for your help.
but
how can I make use of that?
in other words,
what are benefits of -godmode-
waiting your reply
thanks alot
@Robert yep it was available in Vista too, but not many people know about it althought it’s quite useful.
@Ali For me it’s pretty useful, you can control a lot of things from just one control panel. You will find many advanced settings here.
Some good ones are for example
“View List of running gadgets”
“Connect to a projector”
“Media streaming options”
There are plenty of handy shortcuts. Best of all, you can then go ahead and right-click on entries that you find useful and create a shortcut to your desktop. Can be a real time-saver imo.
Great little device! Thanks
Thank for your tips Oliver ….
Very good …
Doesn’t work on windows vista 64 home , it crashes ur explorer.exe
Here are the instructions for removing the GodMode folder if setup on 64bit Vista.
http://chrisbarba.wordpress.com/2010/01/06/how-to-remove-…om-vista-64bit/
It’s not a secret, it’s part of the backend of windows search.
When you perform a search from the start menu the words are checked against the keywords of the items this folder displays.
It’s not the only one.
You however do not need to create a folder to access it. Just paste “shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” into a run box (or the address bar of a folder window, or the search box of the state menu) and hit enter. At which point a window should spring up named “All Tasks”.
BTW there are others of these, and there are many UUIDs that you can run with “shell:”. Even without a tablet PC you can still access the hidden control panel applet with “shell:::{80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E}”. Just keep in mind that if you change the handedness of you menus, you will have to repeat the procedure to get at the applet again as there is no other way (short of discovering the applicable registry entry).
Hey all.
Just letting you know, there is more than just the “Control Panel” mode.
You may notice I don’t have any “Godmode” folder.
Thats because these all are god mode.
The “Godmode” function you are all talking about is called “Monster control panel, but as ‘Johan’ said, you can put anything you want before the “.”
eg.
.{code}
Just create a new folder for each, and copy the above names.
It has been hinted that the ‘Explorer’ one doesn’t work on 7 (I know) so if you fiure it out, please tell us.
‘x-ploshin’
Hi Xploshin
thanks for the list, I will add them shortly.
Cheers
Wow-wow! Awesome little trick-thanks so much for going to the trouble of writing this article. I, for one, greatly appreciate it!
I notice that after installing GodMode for the Control Panel in Win7, the regular Control Panel on the Start menu no longer works. I also had a blue screen crash so how do I uninstall this feature? Can I just delete the shortcut itself or do I need to modify the Registry?
Bob, there’s something else going on with your computer. I created the “GodMode” folder on my desktop and both it and the regular Control Panel on the Start Menu both still work.
As far as uninstalling, I don’t think there is such a thing. It’s just a folder on your computer. Delete it and it’s gone. But having or not having a folder on your computer shouldn’t interfere with the Control Panel app.
FWIW I run Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Yup Dennis is right, it’s simply a link to specific control panel options, so you can’t uninstall it.
Absolutely love the GodMode folder!
Just upgraded WinXP to Win7 and am quickly trying to get up to date on all the new features and such with Win7.
I watch Windows Weekly, but you’ve moved past Windows 7 tips to Windows Phone 7 tips. That’s fine, I’ll probably just start watching the older shows starting with last year about this time since Win7 launched last year about this time. :)
Thanks for all the great info!
Dave
WoW, it worked!! I got the monster control panel. Awesome. I saw this godmode a year or 2 back, but all “they” said was to name a new folder “Godmode”. I did, and it was eMpTy.
But… Your copy n paste text; GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Works. Thanks. Brilliant.
