When more than one system is connected with the network, there are often IP address conflicts that arise. It is really a common issue. If you ever get a message similar to this one, then your system is having an IP address conflict, due to which you would be unable to use internet connection:
There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network. This ip address is already in use on the network. Please reconfigure a different IP address.
Although this problem is not difficult to resolve, yet it is often frustrating when both computers having the same IP address are unable to browse through the internet. Here are some steps that you can follow to fix the ip address conflict in Windows 8:
1. StepTry restarting your router and see if the new IP is allocated once your router is restarted. If that does not fix the issue, follow step 2 and ownwards:
2. StepInitiate Run (Windows Hot Key + R) and type in ncpa.cpl
3. StepRight click the internet connection and select Properties.
4. StepNow go down to select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and select Properties
5. StepClick Use the following IP address: and use any address that differs from an existing IP. For example have a look at the settings below. It is not required to type in exactly the following, but the DNS server should be your router address, which by default is 192.168.1.1
