What Is A Network Printer?
When there are several computers connected to each other in a network, it becomes practically useless to purchase several printers to connect to every computer. Administrators, in these cases, prefer to buy one printer and share it with all the connected computers so that all the users using those computers can use the shared printer in case they need to print something.
Whenever a user wants to use a printer that is shared anywhere in the network he is required to install its driver and technically this is known as installing a network printer on a computer.
As a Windows 8 user if you want to install a network printer on your computer you are required to follow the steps given as below:
1 Logon to Windows 8 computer on which you want to install a network printer.
2 Make sure that the printer which you want to install through the network is shared.
3 From the available options displayed on the screen click on Desktop.
4 From the desktop screen double-click on Computer icon.
5 On the opened window click on Network category from the left pane and from the right pane double-click on the name of the computer on which the printer is locally connected and is shared. (Your systems administrator will let you know about it).
6 You will be displayed with all the shared devices and folders on the remote computer. Right click on the name of the printer which you want to install on your local machine and from the context menu click on Connect option. Alternatively you can click on Create Shortcut option to create the shortcut of the network printer on your local desktop screen.
