You might already know how to display hidden files in Windows 7, but do you know how to display hidden passwords? Many programs don’t actually display a password due to security reasons. If you want to recover the hidden passwords, here’s a free tool to do it.
The passwords are often replaced with asterisks ***** or other symbols and when you forget it, you’ll never know what the actual password was. All browsers for example can store passwords and will usually protect them from people looking over your shoulders by displaying them as *****.
To recover the password to your favorite website, you can use the following handy tool from Nirsoft: Asterisks Logger
Download Asterisks Logger from http://www.nirsoft.net/(you have to scroll down to download the logger).
Not all applications store the passwords behind the asterisks, so you can’t always recover hidden passwords. Most programs like Outlook, Thunderbird and any other program with a normal password text-box will allow you to recover the password. You can then save your password as a HTML file or a plain text file.
There’s a way to reset the password and it doesn’t involve reformatting and reinstalling Windows. The solution is called Windows Password Key 8.0. It can reset all Windows passwords in seconds. You can log in again just in one second. especially support windows 7 password reset.

Password Key 8.0 does not recover hidden passwords and that is what this post is about. It can retrieve Windows passwords, but not hidden passwords.
Here’s the guide how to bypass Windows passwords:

Anyway, Password Key 8.0 is not cheap and will cost $20 so I’d give ophcrack a try first or any of the free methods that I posted.
I bought that password recovery software for $40 (twice the price)and it STILL didn’t work … something about those things NOT working for Win 7. Ended up having to do all kinds of stuff that DID NOT work, and finally … reformatted. I was SO pissed but did figure out a way to save all my images, which was (to me) the only thing of importance on it. Now, if only I can remember what the heck I did to DO that … dang short torm memory loss from etiher old age, or the stroke, does me in all the time! lolol (well, sorta kinda laughing anyway).
Treed (LOVE your site and SO glad I found it .. you write in english, not computerese!)
