Network: Repair the internet connection in Windows 7

You frequently have networking problems? Can’t access iTunes store? Websites fail to load? Here’s how to repair your internet connection in Windows 7 using our winsockfix.bat

Winsock Reset

Last week for example I was unable to access the iTunes store and some people frequently report that they can’t access Steam properly and get the message Failed to load.

There are many things that can go wrong, even a broken DNS server or a DNS server that crashed can cause your internet connection to break.

In a lot of cases, it helps to use the following trick.

1. Step Open an elevated command prompt (click on link if you don’t know how)
2. Step Enter the command

netsh winsock reset

3. Step You should now get a message that the winsock was reset successfully.

If that does not repair your internet connection, try another network cable, turn off your firewalls and anti-viruses temporarily.

Change DNS Server

Also change the DNS server IP of your internet connection.

To do that open Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections – click on Change Adapter settings

Right-click on your network adapter that does not work, click on Properties

Double-click IPv4 and change the DNS server IP to this:
