Back in 2008, USB 3.0 was available. Now in 2010, at the CES, many manufacturers presented their newest motherboards and hard drives. Seagate presented their newest external hard drive “BlackArmor”. According to Seagate the speed of USB 3.0 is up to 3 times faster than USB 2.0. If you want high-speed files transfers, get USB 3.0!
USB 3.0 vs. USB 2.0
USB 3.0 is up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. Seagate has confirmed 100MB/sec transfer speeds for their external drive BlackArmor, so 25GB can now be transferred in 4 minutes instead of 13, making it three times faster. Sharing large files will become a lot easier.
25GB Transfer:
USB3: 4 min.
USB2: 13 min.
If you want to upgrade your current PC, Seagate’s BlackArmor PS110 is an external drive that includes a USB 3.0 Performance kit (PCI Express USB 3.0 card + cables).

Thats great speed. We are waiting for our market to grab it.
So I bought shiny new hardware about 4 months ago, including Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard with an i7-930 CPU & 6Gb Ram. Windows7 64 bit, yes I actually paid for an operating system. All for what? How can I copy files from my CF cards into my shiny new computer faster? Not with Windows7 thank you very much, no USB3 support, no drivers…
So now we wait for the service pack official release probably late this year, and hope that they include USB3 drivers.
